Timeboxd (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the Timeboxd app and how it is used.
Timeboxd is designed to minimize data collection and keep your watch collection private and under your control.
Information we collect
1. Information you add to the app
Timeboxd stores information you choose to add, including:
- Watch details (brand, model, reference number, movement, case size, etc.)
- Purchase information (price, date, notes)
- Custom tags
- Watch photos or images you upload
This information is stored locally on your device and may be backed up to your personal iCloud account if iCloud backup is enabled.
We do not have direct access to your iCloud data.
2. Analytics
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics provider, to understand how Timeboxd is used and to improve performance, reliability and features.
Analytics may include limited technical and usage information such as:
- App version
- Device type
- Anonymous usage events (e.g. screens viewed, features used)
- Diagnostic or crash data
- Watch-related metadata such as brand and model when used within app features
This information is analyzed only in aggregate to understand general trends (for example, overall popularity of certain brands or features). It is not used to identify, profile, or target individual users.
We do not use analytics for personalized advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal data.
PostHog processes analytics data on our behalf in accordance with its privacy policy.
3. In-app purchases
Timeboxd offers a one-time purchase to unlock unlimited watches.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment details. We may receive confirmation of purchase status or entitlement from Apple to enable app functionality.
4. iCloud backups
If you enable iCloud, your collection data (including watch details and photos) may be backed up to your personal iCloud account.
This data is stored and managed by Apple under your iCloud agreement. Timeboxd does not access, store, or process your iCloud data outside of backup and restore functionality within the app.
How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain app functionality
- Enable backup and restore features
- Support in-app purchase unlock and restore
- Improve performance and reliability
- Understand general usage trends in aggregate
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or targeted marketing.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We may share limited information with service providers who help operate the app, including:
- Apple (for in-app purchases and iCloud services)
- PostHog (for analytics processing)
These providers process data on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.
Data retention
Collection data you add to the app is stored locally on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud backup.
Analytics data is retained only as long as necessary to analyze trends and improve the app.
Data deletion
You may delete your collection data at any time within the app.
If you uninstall the app and remove any associated iCloud backups, your stored collection data will be deleted.

Children’s privacy
Timeboxd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a child under 13, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Your rights (EEA and UK users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are made, the updated version will be posted with a revised effective date.
